CONSULTING SERVICES

SPECS offer a wide range of consulting services. We specialize in identifying the project drivers and assist in moving the project in a positive direction. At the EIR and Tentative Tract Mapping Phase we add value by evaluating options and identifying driving factors that could add cost or make a project less constructible down the line.

From a very simple pedestrian tunnel to a complicated hydraulic corridor crossing, we work with the project team and provide an approach that takes all of the site parameters into consideration. We coordinate with the project team including the Civil Engineer, Geotechnical Engineer, Biologist, Hydraulics/Scour Engineer, Architect, and the approving agency to be proactive in identifying their requirements and help you drive your project to completion.

Our consulting services include

  • Feasibility Studies/Options Analysis
  • CALTRANS Type Selection Report
  • Coordination with Project Team
  • In-Depth Cost Analysis and Timing
  • Bridge Aesthtics
  • Structural Design and Calculations
  • Plan Submittal
  • Contractor Coordination
  • Construction Support
  • Planning

During the very early stages of a project when there is limited information, SPECS can talk through likely square footage costs, site constraints based on preliminary information, and potential options meeting the known project requirements.

  • Feasibility

SPECS looks at the project with both a big-picture perspective and with a focus on detail. After considering all of the design conditions, an Options Analysis, Feasibility Report, or CALTRANS Type Selection Report can be provided with a recommendation of what type of structure is best suited for the site based on drivers such as price, construction timing, maintenance, site constraints, aesthetics and more.

  • Design

SPECS provides structural design and calculations for buried crossings and bridge structures and foundations. In most cases the design for headwall and wingwall systems is also provided and can include precast concrete, cast-in-place concrete, MSE, etc.

  • Approvals

SPECS can provide plan submittal services or will provide the design and calculations to be incorporated into the Civil Plans.

SPECS is available to meet with the approving agencies to collaborate on the design to maximize the efficiency of the plan check process.

  • Fabrication

A very high level of quality control and testing are observed during the fabrication of the different structure types. Industry-standard QA/QC documentation and test results are available meeting NPCA, AISI, Caltrans and/or local agency protocols as applicable.

  • Construction

The same people who started the project during the planning stage are still involved all the way through to construction. By construction we know the ins and outs of the project. Preconstruction meetings are held, and we keep in close contact with the contractor during the installation to schedule the trucks, discuss staging, and to ensure a plan is in place for a smooth installation. Construction challenges are bound to arise, and SPECS’ on-site support ensures challenges are handled quickly and efficiently to keep the job moving.
